Documents Required for MSME Certificate

To register as an MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) and obtain an MSME certificate, the following documents are required:

  • Business & Personal Details

Aadhaar Card – Mandatory for registration (linked with the applicant’s mobile).
PAN Card – For business and tax-related verification.

  • Business Registration Proof 

Partnership Firm – Partnership Deed
Company – Certificate of Incorporation, MOA & AOA
Sole Proprietorship – GST registration or business license

  • Business Address Proof

Utility Bill (Electricity/Water Bill) or Rent Agreement (if rented).

  •  Bank Details

Cancelled Cheque or Bank Statement with business name and account number.

  • Other Documents

GST Registration Certificate (if registered under GST).
NIC Code – Industry classification code for business activities.

Process of MSME Registration

Step 1: Visit the Udyam Registration Portal:

Step 2: Enter Aadhaar Details:

  • For Proprietors – Use the business owner’s Aadhaar.
  • For Partnership Firms – Use one partner’s Aadhaar.
  • For Companies/LLPs – Use the authorized signatory’s Aadhaar.

Step 3: Fill in Business Details:

  • Business Name and Type of Organization (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Private Ltd, etc.).
  • PAN Card details (mandatory for businesses requiring GST registration).
  • Business Address & Contact Information.

Step 4: Provide Bank Details: 

  • Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.

Step 5: Specify Business Activities.

  • Select the NIC Code (National Industrial Classification Code) related to the business.
  • Describe the nature of manufacturing or service activities.

Step 6: Enter Investment & Turnover Details.

  • Provide details of investment in plant & machinery or equipment.
  • Declare annual turnover to determine MSME category (Micro, Small, or Medium).

Step 7: Submit GST & Additional Details.

  • GSTIN is required if the business is GST registered.

Step 8: Verify & Submit Application.

  • Cross-check all details and submit the registration.
  • OTP verification will be required for Aadhaar authentication.

Step 9: Receive MSME Certificate.

  • After successful submission, the Udyam Registration Certificate is generated online.
  • The certificate is valid for a lifetime and does not require renewal.
